WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE ASKING ABOUT SOPHIE ALLPORT BEDDING?
What is a good thread count for bed sheets?
Good sheets tend to have a thread count of 200, and there are many reasons why this is the ideal thread count. Bed sheets with a thread count of 200 still offer a high quality and soft feel but also are light, airy, and breathable, allowing your body to stay at the optimum temperature when sleeping. It’s important to note that when it comes to a high thread count, such as 800, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are better, as they can feel thicker, denser, and heavy. Read our guide on choosing the best thread count for bed sheets.
What is the best way to wash cotton bed sheets?
All our bedding sets are made from 100% cotton, and we recommend machine washing them in the washing machine at 40 degrees. We suggest splitting out your dark and light colours and washing these separately to avoid any dye running from other clothing or items. Please do not bleach or dry clean your bedding sheets. We also suggest tumble drying on a low setting and then ironing with warm. For best results and to keep your bed sheets free from creases iron whilst slightly damp. Always check your care instructions before washing. Are you looking for tips on how to wash your bed sheets? Read our guide on washing your bedding sets.
How often should bed sheets be washed?
For optimum cleanliness and fresh sheets, we recommend washing your bed sheets once a week - this will eliminate germs, dust, mites, pollen, dead skin cells, sweat, dirt and much more from your sleeping routine. If you sleep with pets in the bed, then we’d recommend washing your bed sheets every 4 days to remove any other bacteria and hair that might build up. Washing your bed sheets regularly is good for your health and can help reduce acne, eczema, allergies, infections and other skin irritations.
How should I fold my bed sheets?
Keeping your laundry folded away neatly makes it much easier when it comes to changing your bedding around. Top Tip, place a tumble dryer sheet between your folded sheets to keep them smelling fresh.
Folding Fitted Sheets: Fold your sheet in half and tuck the elastic corners into each other. Repeat this step, then lay out your folded sheet in a rectangle. Next, fold the sheet into thirds lengthwise, and then fold the other way into thirds.
Folding Bed Sheets: Simply fold your bed sheets so that they are the same size as your fitted sheet, then stack this together.
Folding Pillowcases: To finish your bedsheets, fold the pillowcase lengthwise to make the same width as your folded sheets, then wrap this around both your fitted sheet and bedding sheets to create a stylish display.
Can bed sheets be recycled?
Almost any fabric can be recycled. Check with your local recycling centre to see where you can drop off fabric waste. Many charities, animal shelters, and organisations will happily receive donations of bed sheets that are in good condition. Places like the RSPCA, the National Animal Welfare Trust and the Salvation Army are always on the lookout for bed linens. You can also repurpose your old sheets at home, from creating tipi and dens for children to matching a patchwork duvet.
