The start of September 2019 was an exciting time for the Sophie Allport team as we opened the doors to our new shop on Spalding Road in Bourne. Let us take you for a look behind the scenes at how we created this exciting expansion.
After many months of planning, the overall building of the project took only five months with help from local businesses such as Hardy Constructions, Intone Designs and Colourbank Carpets. Here we see the foundations of the build coming together with the new outer walls beginning to rise.
We faced many challenges over the months, one of which was challenging weather extremes, from record-breaking heatwaves to a completely flooded carpark!
Funding for the extension was provided by Barclays and the Rural Development Programme for England. Our Relationship Manager Nigel, at Barclays, explained; “Jem and Sophie have worked really hard to get the business to where it is today. They have a distinctive brand which is enjoyed by many and we are delighted we have been able to support them in the latest stage of the company’s development.”
The carpark was indeed a building site, but once the exterior had been cladded, the windows and doors were installed, then it was finally time to start on the interior. There were already plans in place for the second floor to have an ‘outlet area’.
The walls were painted, and it was time to start assembling furniture and constructing shelves, ready for the Sophie Allport range to be beautifully displayed and customers to come and see Sophie's collections.
